ORYX Energies S.A “OESA” is one of Africa’s largest and longest established independent providers of oil and gas products and services. In pursuit of its business strategies in Zambia, the company invites applications from suitably qualified individuals for the position mentioned below, to join its team at ORYX Energies Zambia Ltd “OEZL”, based on the Copperbelt and Lusaka.

The successful candidate will be reporting to the Retail Manager.

The Territory Manager -South will be based in Lusaka, at CCO Lusaka.

JOB PURPOSE :

The role involves ensuring compliance with B2C policies and HSSEQ standards across assigned stations, while prioritizing customer-centricity with Dealers and Station Managers. Key responsibilities include implementing customer and dealer value propositions, managing business relationships, driving sales and profit growth, and delivering financial targets. The role requires collaborative work with Dealers and Station Managers to develop business plans and sustain profitable growth.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES :

1. Operations Management : Oversee day-to-day operations of Southern service stations, enhancing brand image, monitoring stock, and ensuring excellent customer service.

2. Sales and Targets : Meet volume targets for all products across southern region.

3. Cost Control : Minimize waste and pilferage by managing controllable expenses and inventory.

4. People Management :

  • Attract and select suitable Dealers / Operators / Partners.
  • Identify competency gaps and coach Dealers for operational excellence.
  • Ensure Dealer staff training and development.

5. Performance Monitoring :

  • Set sales and profitability targets.
  • Review Dealer performance and support action plans.
  • 6. HSSEQ and Food Safety : Foster a strong HSSEQ culture.

    7. Business Development :

  • Support Convenience Retailing and Non-Fuel Revenue plans.
  • Promote Marketing initiatives.
  • OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Develop and implement promotional plans to drive business growth.
  • Build local capabilities and expand stores.
  • Manage contracts and ensure profitability.
  • Optimize operational expenses (Opex) and cost management.
  • Fast-track Dealer / Partner contract signoffs and negotiations.
  • Identify and develop new locations / sites.
  • Approve store layouts, merchandising, and product assortments.
  • Ensure effective supply chain strategy and troubleshoot challenges.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to develop tactical marketing plans and promotional campaigns.
  • Accountability is part of your leadership role. You are entrusted to implement the strategy and to manage the department / division / business unit / company. Being proactive and innovative, you are expected to be highly reliable, promote excellence, good governance and HSSEQ principles across the company and consider the company’s reputation at all times in particular respecting the OESA Code of Conduct.

    EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION REQUIRED :

    Key Qualifications :

  • Grade 12 Certificate / GCE
  • Diploma / Degree in Business, Economics, or Engineering from a reputable institutio
  • Fluency in English; postgraduate qualification / MBA is an added advantage.
  • Experience :

  • 2-3 years of business management experience in B2C / FMCG, with sales experience
  • Key Skills :

  • Analytical, negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to maximize business opportunities.
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Office : Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher)
