Job description : PURPOSE

The job holder purpose is execution of Mechanical functions and activities according to established standard procedures to ensure installations, inspections, examinations, tests and maintenance works are executed as expected and planned in order to achieve copper and gold metals within budget and safely. The job holder shall prepare all labour and equipment requirements for the section to run smoothly .

Ensure CARE strategy (Proficiency Framework) implementation in the section and that all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function are adhered to. Comply to training requirements in the section.

• Safety compliance : Uphold safety standards according to company policy and procedures, ensuring a safe working environment. Compliance with OHS Objectives for each year, be familiar with PTW, LOTTO and 5Whys etc.
• Carry out sectional daily, weekly and long term planning and scheduling of maintenance on components in the load shifting section through interaction with mining operations and maintenance personnel.
• Ensure a safe working environment is maintained for staff in the work areas.
• Ensure that all mechanical equipment parts and working gear, whether fixed or movable, including the anchoring and fixing appliances of all lifting machinery and apparatus used as, or forming part of the equipment on a mine and all foundations in or to which any such appliances are anchored or fixed shall be of good construction, suitable material, adequate strength and free from patent defects and shall be maintained in good working order.

• Ensure that there is maintained a record showing the condition and location of all appliances and gear
• Mentor and Develop subordinates to reach their full potential and technical skills
• Take a lead and guide artisans and assistants, to enhance their skills and broaden their knowledge.
• Assist process plant supervisors in executing critical tasks with additional labour during shutdown or breakdown where a variety of tasks are done in a specified time.
• Develop and implementation of SOP’s for sustainability of work practices.
• Carry out any other duties as may be directed by superiors.
• Implement quality control and the elimination of re-work.
• Grade Twelve (12) Certificate.
• Minimum Diploma in Mechanical / Fitting or equivalent.
• A Full Member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia
• Computer literate.
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in Mechanical and related jobs / tasks of which 5years must be at supervisory level
• Demonstrated ability to supervise and manage the team, including external contractors effectively.
• Prior experience in similar supervisory roles within the engineering industry.
• Able to work on standby, work shifts and or work overtime when required
• Manage the crews on various tasks with minimum supervision
• Good verbal communication skills.
