Job Summary :
We are seeking an experienced Workshop Manager to oversee all workshop operations for a busy concrete and crushing operation in Zambia. The ideal candidate must be trade tested, with a solid background in managing workshops, fleets, and field service teams related to construction, trucks, and yellow plant machinery. This role is hands-on and strategic, ensuring maximum uptime of critical equipment to support continuous production and delivery operations.
Key Responsibilities :
- Full management of the workshop and technical staff, including technicians, assistants, and support personnel
- Oversee and coordinate all equipment servicing, repairs, breakdowns, and rebuilds
- Lead workshop scheduling, resource planning, and project execution
- Maintain and troubleshoot diesel engines, gearboxes, braking systems, suspension, electrical and mechanical diagnostics
- Ensure efficient execution of tasks such as :
o Engine removal, replacement, strip & assemble
o Gearbox and differential servicing
o Minor and major services
Implement and manage inventory procurement and controlCollaborate with field teams to ensure equipment performance and quick turnaround of repairsEnforce high safety and quality standards at all timesPrepare workshop performance reports and analyze downtime dataMaintain optimal fleet condition across concrete mixer trucks, batching plants, and yellow metal equipmentQualifications :
Trade Tested or equivalent qualification10+ years’ experience as a Workshop Foreman, with at least 5 years as a Workshop ManagerProven experience with diesel trucks and yellow plant machinerySolid background in mining, construction, concrete, or crushing operationsFluent in English and Afrikaans (Read, Write & Speak) – non-negotiableStrong leadership and communication skillsValid driver's license (Code EC preferred)Physically fit and healthyProficient with basic computer systems and reporting toolsStrong troubleshooting ability and proactive, hands-on approachWillingness to work extended hours, weekends, and be on standby when neededIdeal Candidate Traits :
