Job descriptionProperly and safely receive and handle lubricant samples Ensure laboratory testing equipment is within calibration as per specified procedure Recognize sources of error Perform audits in accordance with ISO 17025 Operate the standard suite of analytical instruments in support of lubricant testing in accordance with standard operating procedures Prevent and control errors related to handling, testing and data Perform lubricate testing using established procedures and standards with an understanding of the common laboratory tests Identify whether data obtained through testing is reasonable Inspect data from individual test methods Observing lab testing processes, conducting research, and finding ways to increase efficiency and quality. Preparation of chemical solvent and control / calibration of samples; Assisting the HOD with review of reports for reruns, trends etc., and the dispatch of test reports; Maintaining good laboratory practices and carrying out general housekeeping duties; Disposal of used chemicals and test samples (part of the work may involve physical lifting and the wearing of a respirator). Prepare chemical solutions according to standard formulas. Verify calibration of laboratory instruments as per specified procedures Recognize all forms of lubricant contamination and undertake all associated test methods Diagnose lubricant failure mechanisms and modes Good Communications Skills –Oral and Written Attention to detail Excellent numerical skills Documentation Skills Team Player Attention to detail Sober minded Trust-worthy Data Analysis
Description : Job Purpose
The Laboratory Technician - Oil Analysis will be responsible for efficiently and carefully handling fluid samples and performing tests that provide accurate and reliable results. Accurately inputting information into our database to ensure that our customers receive timely, accurate and reliable data. Set up testing schedules and test slates, including design and set up of special tests and interpretation of results when established standards do not exist. Prepare procedures and instructions, including calibration of laboratory testing equipment.
Summary of Key Responsibilities;
- Conduct advanced diagnosis of lubricant failure mechanisms and offer
possible machine failure mechanisms that relate to those lubricant
failure characteristics
