Our client, an international government-backed organization that promotes and facilitates the globalization of their local companies, attracts foreign investment and supports the internationalization of businesses, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), is looking to recruit two Trade & Investment Desk Representative, one to be based in Lusaka, Zambia and the other to be based in Harare, Zimbabwe.
The Trade & Investment Desk Representative will serve as a strategic liaison between the our client's regional trade promotion office and stakeholders in Zambia and Zimbabwe. Operating from within Embassy premises, the Representatives will support trade facilitation, business development, and institutional engagement, with a focus on promoting bilateral commercial relations and supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Key Responsibilities
- Represent the regional trade office at all official business, trade and commerce engagements matters within Zambia / Zimbabwe
- Facilitate trade and investment opportunities between the host country, SME's and international partners
- Support companies seeking market entry or expansion, with tailored guidance and local insights
- Coordinate with embassy staff, government institutions, and private sector stakeholders for enablement of economic diplomacy
- Organize and support trade missions, promotional events, and business forums
- Be the key liason on all Trade and Investment matters in host country and provide regular reporting and strategic updates to the regional office in Johannesburg
- Maintain high standards of professionalism, confidentiality, and diplomatic protocol
Requirements
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations, Economics, Business Administration, or a related fieldAt least 5 years’ experience in trade promotion, investment facilitation, or international business developmentDemonstrated experience working with diplomatic missions, government agencies, or international organisationsProven track record in supporting SMEs or foreign companies entering local marketsAbility to translate international business goals into locally relevant actions and partnershipsHigh-level reporting and analytical skills, including the preparation of market intelligence and strategic briefsEvent coordination and project management experience, especially in trade missions or promotional campaignsDigital literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and virtual collaboration toolsStrong understanding of the economic, legal, and regulatory environments in Zambia and ZimbabweFamiliarity with bilateral trade frameworks, investment protocols, and market access strategiesExcellent stakeholder engagement skills, including with government, private sector, and civil societyCultural sensitivity and diplomatic acumen, with the ability to operate within embassy settingsFluency in English and widely spoken local language are essential and knowledge of Italian is an added advantageResidents and Nationals of Zambia and Zimbabwe are encouraged to applyHow to Apply
